Bylaws

Adopted October 19, 2015

  1. Meetings

    1. The Augusta Baptist Association of Virginia (ABAV) shall have an Annual Meeting at a time and place to be set by the associational Leadership Team. Churches shall be given a minimum of sixty days’ notice in writing prior to the meeting.

    2. Duly authorized messengers attending shall constitute a quorum. Messengers shall register with the clerk for each meeting.

    3. The associational year will begin January 1.

    4. All reports for the associational year shall be given at the Annual Meeting.

    5. Special meetings of the ABAV may be called by the Leadership Team. Churches shall be given a minimum of thirty days’ notice in writing prior to the meeting.

    6. In all points of order the ABAV shall be guided by the latest edition of Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised. The Moderator may appoint a parliamentarian to advise on procedure as needed.



  1. Financial Policy

    1. The ABAV shall operate on a unified budget. Each church is encouraged to generously give in support the ministries of the Association.

    2. Associational ad-hoc teams may not solicit offerings except on prior approval of the Leadership Team.



  1. Amendments

    1. These bylaws may be altered or amended at any duly called meeting of the ABAV by a simple majority provided that a thirty days’ notice of the proposed change has been submitted to the churches in writing.
