CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH
1958
First Baptist Church of Staunton began the West End Baptist Mission in November, 1949. Rev. Scott Hutton, Jr., of Norfolk, delivered the sermon
at the first service on November 16. In 1952, a building was constructed and the name changed to Calvary Baptist Chapel, which became Calvary
Baptist Church on october 12, 1958.
Throughout the history of the church, missions has had a strong emphasis.
Today, with 312 members, the mission of Calvary Baptist Church has been characterized in these words: "The church's vision for the future
is to exalt the name of Jesus Christ with an inter-denominational flavor in the Staunton area."
