In the summer of 1948, the state Mission Board bought a lot 150x1 50 in the west end of Fishersville on Route 250 and sent Rev. Scott C.Hutton, Sr., to organize a church. Prayer meetings began in homes on July 29. Preaching services were held in a rented garage, with 8 baptized in the Staunton church on october 31. On November 8, 1948, Fishersville Baptist Church was organized. Money to build was underwritten by the Staunton church.
Rev. Scott Hutton, Sr., served as the first pastor, from March, 1949, through November, 1951. Rev. Scott Hutton, Jr., was pastor from December, 1951, through September, 1953.
Under the leadership of Rev. John Sullivan since 1978, the church has grown to 680 members .
