GROTTOES BAPTIST CHURCH
1948
In the spring of 1948, Rev. Scott C. Hutton, Sr., started a mission in the old Presbyterian church building on Elm Street in Grottoes. With
32 charter members, the mission organized into the First Baptist Church of Grottoes on September 12, 1948.
The church was on a field with Bridgewater at one time and was inactive in 1949 and again in 1951.
After the rented building was sold in 1952, the church met in the Grottoes Fire Hall until land was donated for a building.
Rev. Don Meadows has served as pastor since 1983. Membership now is 95.
