The Mission Chapel Committee of First Baptist, Staunton, explored the possibilities of establishing a new church in the northern area of Staunton .
The result was Memorial Baptist Church, organized May 5, 1963, with 89 charter members.
The fourth largest church in the Augusta Association with 693 members, Memorial Baptist describes its mission as "a servant to the community in the name of Christ." Sixteen organizations outside the church regularly use its
building, with an average of 1,000 people using the building every week. For the past five years, Memorial has averaged giving 27.6% of its total income to missions .
