Stuarts Draft Baptist Church
1894
Through the efforts of Laurel Hill Baptist Church, 29 charter members organized stuarts Draft Baptist Church on October 1, 1894. A building was
completed in 1896. Rev. Scott C. Hutton, Sr., "Missionary Pastor
of the Augusta Association," and his three sons--Scott Jr., Edgar, and Malcolm--supplied the church during the summer of 1948.
In 1963, Rev. Judson Baldwin, a son of the Singers Glen Baptist Church pastor, came as pastor and served for 30 years. Along with the church's other ministries and accomplishments was the mission which became Sher Lynd Baptist Church.In the 50 years from 1944 to 1994, Stuarts Draft Baptist Church has grown from 70 to 505 .
